Position Overview

In consultation with the Manager Recreation Services plans facilitates and evaluates recreation programs to meet the needs of individuals and groups of residents in accordance with the provincially recognized Standards of Practice.

Experience
  • Experience working as a Recreation Facilitator preferred.
  • Experience within the past three (3) years with planning implementing and evaluating recreation programs.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Completion of Certificate Program Recreation Facilitator for older Adults or Bachelors degree in Recreation Management or Kinesiology.
  • Advanced preparation in the area of geriatric study is preferred.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Food Handlers Certificate required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Works within the Centres core values philosophy vision C.Q.I. goals policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the English language allowing for effective oral and written communication with residents and staff.
  • An interest in and understanding of the needs of the elderly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated with residents family members colleague and supervisors.
  • Demonstrates creativity.
  • Non-violent crisis intervention training is an asset.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical health to meet the requirements of the position.

This Indefinite Term may expire subject to one (1) weeks notice.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
