Quality Control (QC) Welding Inspector (CWB Level 2)

• Perform in-process and final inspections of pressure vessels pressure piping structural steel skid assemblies and modular process equipment.
• Perform visual welding inspections in accordance with CSA W178.2 ASME Section V ASME Section IX and applicable fabrication codes.
• Verify joint preparation fit-up alignment welding parameters preheat interpass temperatures and completed welds.
• Verify fabrication complies with engineering drawings client specifications Quality Control Procedures Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and applicable codes and standards.
• Inspect incoming materials and verify compliance with purchase specifications material test reports (MTRs) and traceability requirements.
• Verify material identification and heat number traceability throughout fabrication.
• Review fabrication packages prior to production.
• Perform dimensional inspections throughout fabrication.
• Conduct line checks of completed piping systems valves instruments and process equipment.
• Witness pressure testing leak testing and mechanical completion activities.
• Coordinate and witness required NDE activities including RT UT MT PT PMI hardness testing ferrite testing and holiday testing where applicable.
• Support Authorized Inspector (ABSA) National Board client and third-party inspections.
• Conduct final package inspections prior to shipment.
• Develop and manage punch lists through mechanical completion.

• Maintain detailed records of inspection results including measurements observations and any non-conformities.
• Prepare manufacturers data record (MDR) for ASME stamped vessels and AB-83 for piping systems.
• Consolidate punch lists for plant systems exception lists and provides tracking to ensure that all punch list items are captured and signed off for mechanical completion.
• Prepare comprehensive inspection reports summarizing finds and recommendations for corrective actions.
• Communicate inspection results effectively to supervisors production teams and other relevant departments.
• Collaborate with various team members to implement corrective and preventative measures based on inspection findings.
• Complete a full review of final hand-over documentation such as QA record book-site records mechanical catalog book and manual/data book to ensure they comply with client requirements and contract.

• Implement the QC manual ITP maintenance of standard procedures WPS and welders qualifications.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing fabrication processes and quality standards.
• Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and quality enhancements within the inspection process.
• Propose and implement innovative solutions to streamline inspection procedures to reduce errors.
• Provide feedback to production teams and management on areas for improvement based on inspection outcomes.

• Ensure adherence to all quality procedures protocols and standards throughout the fabrication process.
• Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to fabrication operations.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation participating in audits and addressing audit findings as needed.
• Assist in the development and revision of quality procedures and work instructions as necessary.

• Stay updated on industry trends best practices and regulatory changes related to quality control in fabrication.
• Train new employees on inspection techniques quality standards and relevant procedures.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior inspectors to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Continuously develop personal expertise in fabrication inspection methodologies and technologies.
• Stay current with applicable code revisions and industry best practices.

• Current CWB Level 2Welding Inspector Certification (CSA W178.2).
• Minimum 5 years experience performing quality control inspections within the pressure vessel pressure piping structural steel or modular process equipment fabrication industry.
• Strong working knowledge of ASME Section VIII Div.1 Section II Section V Section IX ASME B31.3 ASME B31.5 CSA B51 CSA B52 CSA W59 ABSA PESR and ASTM material specifications.
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings fabrication drawings P&IDs and specifications.
• Experience with material traceability weld mapping and quality documentation.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Bluebeam Revu and SharePoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

• Fall Protection / Fall Arrest
• Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) / Aerial Work Platform (AWP) Certification (Scissor Lift & Boom Lift)
• Confined Space Entry and Monitor (preferred)
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a clean driving abstract
