We are looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to support the Canadian Photonics Fabrication Center. The incumbent would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity Excellence Respect and Creativity.
The Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre (CPFC) provides fabrication services for unique semiconductor-based photonic and electronic components helping industry reduce their time to market through prototyping and low volume manufacturing. The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for developing and sustaining a Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure a high level of quality of all projects delivered to the CPFC clientele.
This position leads the effort to build a culture of continuous improvement and manages the development implementation maintenance and continuous improvement of the QMS in the CPFC Portfolio. Other quality related responsibilities include the development and provision of training sessions assisting process owners in the development of work instructions working with project managers to incorporate quality procedures in their projects tracking process yield data and performing internal audits to ensure compliance to adopted standards. The QA Manager is also responsible for interacting with clients for external audits and quality conformance issues.
To meet increasing client demand the CPFC runs on multiple work shifts. The Quality Assurance Manager ensures consistency and quality of output across all working shifts.
Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:
Bachelors degree in Engineering or Science or a related field.
Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering would be considered an asset.
Six Sigma black belt accreditation (or equivalent) would be considered an asset.

- Extensive* experience in developing maintaining and continuously improving formal Quality Systems (such as ISO9001:2008) preferably in a Research and Development (R&D) and/or manufacturing environment. Extensive* experience in project planning and management.
- Extensive* experience in project planning and management.
- Experience in a semiconductor wafer processing environment would be considered an asset.
*Extensive experience is defined as more than seven (7) years of experience.
Reliability Status
For a Reliability Status verification of background information over a period of 5 years is required.
Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 series of quality standards;
- Knowledge of statistical process control use of control charts DOE and DFM methodologies;
- Knowledge of MES and ERP systems;
- Knowledge of cost engineering and supply chain management;
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices;
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and processes.
