Job Summary
About the Role
Working within the Faculty of Health Community and Education this is a flexible position whose work schedule is variable and may include an irregular schedule of not less than three (3) hours per shift and up to thirty-five (35) hours per week.
This role is expected to to start on September 1 2026 ending on March 1 2027 with a maximum 10 hours per week.
The Project Planner Post Graduate will support the supervisor and team with tasks related to the preparation and implementation of the Biennial HCE Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning Conference working both independently and collaboratively. Work will be routinely reviewed by the Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Provide the supervisor with periodic updates (every 2 weeks) via email/in-person and as needed to address issues related to the project
- Support the planning coordination and delivery of the academic conference focused on teaching and learning ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and scholarly objectives.
- Work with the supervisor to develop a comprehensive project plan including timelines milestones and deliverables to support successful conference implementation.
- Coordinate aspects of conference logistics including venue selection (if required) scheduling registration systems catering and audiovisual/educational technology requirements.
- Facilitate the development of a scholarly conference program including call for proposals abstract review processes peer review coordination and session scheduling.
- Support the liaising with faculty educational developers keynote speakers and external partners to support program development and dissemination of teaching and learning scholarship.
- Support the integration of evidence-informed pedagogical practices including sessions focused on innovation in teaching experiential learning and assessment.
- Develop and implement communication and promotion strategies to engage academic audiences and enhance participation across disciplines.
- Have an awareness of budget planning and financial management ensuring effective stewardship of resources and alignment with institutional guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to institutional policies including accessibility equity diversity and inclusion (EDI) and risk management considerations.
- Provide support during the conference including coordination of presenters facilitation of sessions and troubleshooting to ensure a high-quality scholarly experience.
- Support the post-conference evaluation including analysis of participant feedback scholarly impact and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the knowledge mobilization of conference outcomes through dissemination of proceedings reports or scholarly outputs.
Qualifications
Required Three- or Four-Year Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) in Nursing.
Prior experience is welcome but not required (0-1 months minimum).
Preferred:
Proficiency with word/excel software and scholarly writing.
Experience planning and executing academic conferences focused on higher education teaching learning and evidence-informed pedagogical practices.
Ability to engage diverse academic audiences through strategic communication promotion and post-event knowledge mobilization.
Strong project management skills including budget awareness risk management and the ability to maintain structured bi-weekly progress updates with supervisors.
Salary: $21.23 per hour
