This responsibility includes managing project planning and execution as well as ensuring that projects are consistently executed according to the SOCAN Project Management Framework. The Project Manager will also advance best practices and tool adoption for the Project Management Team to achieve improvements in overall service levels. This includes identifying and implementing team process improvements championing clear communication to the organization and assisting and advising the rest of the team to ensure YOULL DO / KEY RESPONSIBILITIESContribute to improvement of current processes like Budgeting and Forecasting Project Onboarding etc. and identify opportunities for and define new processes to help SOCAN better achieve its goalsConsistently apply Project Management best practices policies and procedures to all projects according to the SOCAN Project Management FrameworkAnticipate monitor and resolve project issues risks and disputes. Exercise initiative to solve problems and exercise judgment to leverage escalation channels where requiredEnsure project teams are trained and coached with respect to SOCANs Project Management Framework and support the team of Project Managers using coaching and mentoring to effectively apply PM best practices to SOCANs environmentMonitor and report project progress to Sponsors and other StakeholdersAct as the projects liaison for Portfolio Management activitiesOther ad-hoc analysis report preparation and duties as requiredWHAT YOU WILL BRING / QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEProject Management Professional (PMP) designation from PMI preferredTechnical background with post-secondary computer science or business degree preferredAgile / Scrum certification is an asset>5 years progressive experience managing projects with project budgets exceeding $1MCdn/ > 20 project team members in a technical or business environmentPortfolio and Program Management knowledge coupled with experience leading multiple concurrent projects or project phasesSuperior understanding of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with particular focus on Quality AssuranceAdvanced proficiency in use of Microsoft Office products Word Excel Power Point Visio Project PowerBI SharePointPrevious leadership experience outside of project management (either functional or technical) and experience mentoring and coaching teams and peersDemonstrated team building skills with a proven ability to work independentlyStrong experience with contract development negotiation and on-going vendor managementStrong Risk Analysis management knowledge and experienceStrong estimation planning and decision analysis skillsStrong analytical/critical thinking skillsExceptional communication and presentation skills both written and oralStrong customer service orientation.
