Project Manager, Ship Repair

Ready to lead complex projects that keep Canadas fleets operational As a Project Manager Ship Repair youll oversee the full lifecycle of major docking work periods from planning and estimating through execution delivery and close-out.

• Play a key role in managing change on each Docking Work Period. This will require Interfacing with the enterprise and Canada to manage change that impacts the execution of work on each ship.
• Ensure customer expectations are understood and aligned with contractual requirements.
• Communicate with customers and internal/external stakeholders as required.
• Play a key role in managing performance of the Ship Repair Program including work execution. Lead and support regular stakeholder reviews that can include scope schedule cost quality risk and safety.
• Contribute and lead improvement initiatives to help ensure continuous improvement is embedded with ship repair to ensure docking work periods meet the operational needs of Canada (including the RCN).
• Report to the Program Manager and provide leadership to the Program team fostering a positive and productive working environment.
• Support the Program governance structure including reporting requirements budget management and risk management.

• Post-secondary degree in business administration engineering or related discipline.
  • MBA MASc or equivalent considered an asset.
  • Formal Project Management Qualification preferred.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in a project management position in shipbuilding and defense preferred.
• Knowledge in naval design or project build sectors large scope national contracts or heavy industrial sectors an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to apply core Project Management processes: scheduling lean methodologies budgeting and cost forecasting performance tracking risk management.
• Strong stakeholder management communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive energetic and resultsfocused.
• Proven leadership and effective teamwork abilities.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Canadian Government Security clearance and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
