Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting tothe Senior Director Facilities Operations and Engineering the Project Manageris responsible for managing a portfolio of capital renewal renovation andinfrastructure projects across Durham College generally ranging fromapproximately $100K to $11M.

This temporary contractposition role provides end-to-end project management support from planning andprocurement through construction commissioning occupancy and close-out whilecoordinating consultants contractors internal stakeholders and end users todeliver projects safely on schedule within budget and in alignment withcollege standards and operational requirements.

• Manage multiple capital projects concurrently including development of project plans schedules milestones budgets risk registers and status reporting tools.
• Manage and coordinate consultants contractors and other service providers through planning design tendering construction commissioning handover and warranty phases.
• Act as the primary point of contact for assigned projects and facilitate regular meetings progress updates and issue resolution with users Facilities staff Finance Procurement IT Security and other stakeholders.
• Monitor project scope schedule cost quality and risk; identify variances early and recommend mitigation strategies and corrective actions.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation including meeting minutes project status reports financial updates change logs risk assessments and close-out records.
• Support procurement activities including scope development bid review consultant and contractor coordination contract administration purchase orders and change management.
• Review drawings specifications schedules and construction activities for alignment with project objectives operational needs college standards code requirements and health and safety expectations.
• Manage shutdowns phasing site access user communications and occupancy planning to minimize disruption to campus operations.
• Oversee site progress deficiencies commissioning and final inspections; support substantial completion handover deficiency resolution and lessons learned reviews.
• Provide project management guidance and day-to-day coordination support to internal teams and stakeholders on assigned capital initiatives.

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of a 4-year degree in engineering architecture construction/project management building sciences or a related field.
2. A minimum of 5-years of progressively responsible experience managing capital construction renovation and/or infrastructure projects preferably in an institutional public-sector post-secondary health care municipal or similarly complex environment.
3. Strong knowledge of project management principles and practices including scope schedule cost risk quality procurement and contract administration.
4. Experience coordinating consultants contractors and multiple internal stakeholders and leading projects through planning design tender construction and close-out.
5. Working knowledge of relevant codes standards and health and safety requirements applicable to building construction and renovation projects in Ontario.
6. Strong financial and analytical skills including experience tracking budgets forecasting reviewing change orders and preparing project status and financial reports.
7. Excellent communication organization and relationship-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and provide clear direction in a fast-paced environment.
8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel Word Outlook Teams and project scheduling/reporting tools such as Microsoft Project or equivalent.
9. PMP . architectural construction or related professional designation/certification is an asset.
