Position Summary

The Digital Project Management Office (PMO) team plans and implements key strategic Digital programs and projects to deliver outcomes benefiting UHN and the health system. We apply best practices for managing projects change and risk to ensure high quality deliverables effective coordination of resources and transparent progress reporting. Members of the PMO work in close partnership with a broad range of stakeholders bringing the right teams together to streamline the demand end-to-end delivery and operational services in order to mobilize change and achieve value.

An exciting opportunity is available to showcase your talents as a Project Manager on Project Aspire the multi-year project to build a new state-of-the-art 15-storey surgical and patient tower at Toronto Western Hospital enabled by information communication and automation technology (ICAT). The Project Manager will lead moderately complex to complex digital redevelopment workstreams within Project Aspire bringing together clinical operational technical construction FFE vendor and leadership stakeholders to plan execute monitor and evaluate digital solutions that support safe efficient and sustainable care delivery. For the new Surgical Tower at Toronto Western Hospital some examples of workstreams may include nurse call code management care communications smart patient rooms real-time location systems building automation systems security/access control corporate/OR audio visual network infrastructure and related health information system integration or other business applications.

Duties

  • Create detailed project charters plans schedules RAID logs decision logs budget & resources and status reports in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders to establish project scope schedule budget accountabilities risk monitoring and controls and post project audit/evaluation as part of assigned digital redevelopment projects/workstreams
  • Apply rigorous project management change management and effective communication across the project lifecycle to manage schedule and milestones using appropriate tools anticipating and troubleshooting issues to minimize the hospitals exposure to risk
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams including clinical operational Digital FFE construction facilities privacy/security procurement vendor and leadership stakeholders
  • Lead workflow review and process redesign activities by incorporating frontline clinical input site visits current-state observations and patient/staff safety considerations into digital solution design
  • Deliver progress reports requirements documentation and presentations to project stakeholders sponsors and executive-level leaders
  • Apply breakthrough design ideation integrating emerging technologies and incorporating subject matter expertise and data-driven evidence to create holistic solutions that meet business requirements and establish best practices and standards
  • Support development and execution of governance and oversight models escalating risks/issues appropriately and preparing recommendations for leadership clinical committees or decision-making forums
  • Drive business insight and demonstrate benefits of implemented initiatives to the organization by applying sound data analysis data quality data reporting and visualization
  • Effectively implement and sustain organizational change by applying rigorous change management and communication practices
  • Facilitate development of operational model and plans for transitioning to a sustainable state
  • Coach and manage assigned project staff/team members in a matrix environment including coordinating tasks prioritizing work tracking deliverables and helping remove barriers to project progress

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 5 years project management experience or equivalent required preferably in healthcare digital health clinical operations readiness health information systems infrastructure facilities redevelopment or related environments
  • Undergraduate Degree required in Health Informatics or Administration Technology Science Business or related field required. Masters degree an asset
  • Experience leading end-to-end application system interfacing/interoperability and IT infrastructure projects required
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams
  • Strong analytical prioritization and organization skills with attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Experience with healthcare technology implementation clinical workflow redesign operational readiness or hospital redevelopment/construction projects preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent required or demonstrated activities towards designation
  • Familiarity with healthcare information systems interfaces HL7 ITIL and/or enterprise architecture network infrastructure vendor management an asset
  • Experience with cyber security and privacy regulations an asset
  • Experience or knowledge using Epic an asset
  • Other certification (Lean/Six-Sigma Black Belt ITIL IIBA Change Management) an asset
  • Proficient use of office productivity project management & scrum software (e.g. M365 tools MS Planner/Project MS Visio and collaborative documentation repositories)
  • Supervisory or managerial experience preferred
