Hiring Requirements:
The Project Engineering Manager is responsible for implementing and executing engineering solutions that support the Companys financial and quality objectives including capital project management and process improvement initiatives.
This role leads capital projects from planning through closure by building and coordinating internal and external project teams. The position also leads team members who independently oversee projects manages CAPEX for the Ontario region and participates in national and global initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering
  • Develop coordinate and exercise functional authority for the planning organization control and execution of engineering projects within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop business cases that define budgets timelines and scope and collaborate with other functional departments to ensure business requirements are met.
  • Coordinate the bidding process for equipment and services by communicating machinery requirements and scopes of work comparing proposals and supporting vendor selection.
  • Coordinate internal and external teams during machinery installation commissioning and overhaul activities and participate in these activities at production facilities as required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) vendors and contractors to support effective project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation safety requirements and Company policies across all aspects of capital project execution and technical services.
  • Contribute to the development of standardized best practices for capital project execution.
  • Provide input into energy reduction initiatives environmental services and capital investments that address identified issues or opportunities.
Facility Operations
  • Collaborate with Plant Managers Process Owners and Reliability Teams to identify organize and plan capital projects.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to production processes methods and controls to enhance financial and quality performance.
Financial
  • Collaborate with Plant Managers in the preparation of capital budgets.
  • Manage project financial activities including cost tracking purchase order requisitions invoice approvals and asset creation.
People
  • Lead and coach the regional Engineering Team.
  • Provide feedback and participate in the employee evaluation process.
Experience & Education:
  • Engineering degree combined with experience managing large capital projects.
  • Membership in a professional engineering association is preferred.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) with occasional national and international travel.
  • Five to seven years of experience in a similar role.
  • Food industry experience preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of AutoCAD.
The annual salary range for applicants is: $90000 - $135000 which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location work experience education and/or skill level among other factors.
