Program Manager (part-time)
Job Summary
- Coordinates and supervises the ongoing provision of quality designated programming and services and ensures that established standards for program and shelter service delivery are met through adequate staffing and availability of appropriate supplies.
- Manages staffing levels on weekends including responding to staff call-outs and arranging relief or agency coverage to maintain safe staffing ratios.
- Manages and leads the assigned portfolio to ensure successful outcomes for clients and responds to crises incidents and emergencies as required.
- Completes incident and serious occurrence reports in line with Red Door policy and the Toronto Shelter Standards and escalates issues to the Senior Client Service Manager or senior leadership as appropriate.
- Oversees weekend admissions discharges and client concerns in line with Red Door policies and procedures.
- Ensures the health and safety of clients staff and volunteers including following emergency procedures and arranging for maintenance or security support as needed.
- Plans and supports weekend programming and activities for families and children.
- Supervises weekend Program Staff (Childcare and Shelter Support as assigned) through performance management processes and maintains communication systems that promote collaborative working relationships.
- Evaluates and implements training and development plans maintains staff and program schedules and reviews and approves staff time records for bi-weekly payroll.
- Provides a written weekend handover report to the Senior Client Service Manager and weekday management team summarizing incidents staffing and outstanding client matters.
- Supervises weekend volunteers ensuring they receive orientation direction and guidance so that their experience is positive and enriching for them and for the clients at Red Door.
- Collaborates with the Volunteer Coordinator in matching and placing weekend volunteers as required.
- Participates in the on-call rotation as required.
- Post-secondary education in Social Services or related discipline.
- Minimum of two years of professional experience coordinating or delivering client services and supervising staff.
- Eagerness to develop a solid knowledge of shelter services and government and community resources.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive and collaborative working relationships with individuals and teams.
- Good conflict management and dispute resolution skills
- Good decision-making skills with the ability to motivate and direct others.
- Sound judgment and excellent problem-solving/crisis management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate PC skills in using Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to embrace the non-profit culture.
- Motivated to work in a non-profit environment.
