Job Summary

The Master of Earth and Energy Resources Leadership (MEERL) program is a professional graduate program within the Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering at Queens University. Designed for working professionals in the natural resource sector the program combines online learning with in-person sessions and brings together students faculty alumni and industry partners from diverse backgrounds.

Reporting to the MEERL Director the Program Coordinator plays a key role in the delivery of the program and the overall student experience. The position combines program operations student support and learning and course management working closely with faculty students and other partners to support high-quality program delivery and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative and dynamic team and will have significant opportunity to contribute to the continued development of the MEERL program.

Job Description

Learning and Course Management

oLead the development and implementation of a comprehensive learning strategy that aligns with program objectives learning outcomes and relevant best practices.
oCollaborate with faculty to develop and update course content ensuring it meets the highest academic standards.
oMaintain and manage the course sites on the Universitys learning management system (LMS).
oAssist faculty in creating new online courses formulating revision plans assisting with material creation and managing course implementation.
oImplement and oversee innovative teaching methodologies including technology integration and active learning approaches.
oEvaluate and select learning resources tools and platforms to enhance the educational experience.
oProvide and recommend training to instructors and teaching assistants on the use of educational technology tools.
oLead student feedback and course evaluation processes and use feedback learning and engagement data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
oEvaluate student learning and engagement data.

Program Operation

oLead the day-to-day operations and delivery of the MEERL program ensuring activities are effectively coordinated responsive to stakeholder needs and aligned with program priorities.
oLead short- and long-term program planning proactively identifying operational needs seeking input from relevant stakeholders and adapting approaches to support effective program delivery.
oCoordinate the overall program schedule including courses rin-person sessions events and other key program activities.
oPlan and manage program events including in-person sessions alumni events guest lectures program update sessions and workshops.
oServe as the primary point of contact for students alumni faculty and staff on matters related to program delivery providing timely guidance and ensuring a high-quality program experience.
oProactively identify and resolve operational academic and student-related issues exercising sound judgment and escalating complex or sensitive matters to the MEERL Director as appropriate.
oAdvise and support students on program requirements policies procedures and academic matters including providing guidance to students experiencing academic or personal challenges and connecting them with appropriate University resources where needed.
oOversee student administration throughout the program lifecycle including registration and course enrolment grade administration academic progression student records and degree completion requirements.
oTravel as required to support program activities conferences and networking events.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

oUniversity degree in a relevant discipline with a few years of related experience in program coordination program management education learning and development or a comparable environment.
oDemonstrated experience leading or supporting curriculum development course design instructional design or learning-focused initiatives.
oDemonstrated ability to independently manage complex programs or projects establish priorities coordinate multiple concurrent activities and follow through on deliverables.
oStrong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with students faculty staff and other stakeholders.
oDemonstrated judgment initiative and problem-solving skills including the ability to independently address complex or sensitive issues and determine when escalation or consultation is appropriate.
oStrong organizational and administrative skills with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
oExperience working with diverse stakeholders and providing responsive service-oriented support.
oStrong digital literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant software with demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems.

ASSETS:

oExperience working in a university or post-secondary environment and knowledge of university structures policies and procedures.
oExperience with learning management systems and educational technologies.
oKnowledge of or experience in the natural resource sector including energy mining geoscience or related fields.
