Description

In accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager or designate the Program Assistant Workforce Strategy (the Program Assistant) provides administrative support to the Workforce Strategy (WFS) Team and supports various Workforce Strategy functions including program-related administrative support functions for programs within the Workforce Strategy portfolio. The Program Assistant participates in planning activities recommends and develops work procedures and processes to enhance services and gain efficiencies. Facilitates access to other Workforce Strategy services based on an in-depth knowledge of portfolio operations staff and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience

A level of education training and experience equivalent to high school graduation plus additional relevant post-secondary training such as human resources management/business administration/program management and three (3) years related experience in a large complex multi-union organization.

Skills And Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with the use and management of large data sets.
  • Excellent client relations skills the ability to resolve confusion and conflict the ability to find solutions to complex issues in a fast-paced multi-union environment the ability to work successfully with others and adapt to change.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement and process improvement methodologies an asset.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and attend to detail and complete varied assignments while dealing with frequent interruptions and deadlines.
  • Advanced level proficiency in relevant computer programs including word processing database spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Ability to deal with personal and confidential matters appropriately.
  • Ability to work successfully with other team members and the ability to lead and adapt to change.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
