Professor, Advanced Special Effects Makeup (Part-Time Temporary)

Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our faculty team in the Advanced Special Effects Makeup program. This program offers students an opportunity to use specialized products and equipment to sculpt mold cast and finish their creations while gaining a strong understanding of the inner workings of the media industry and the styles trends and new developments that are shaping its future. We are looking for a part-time professor who can demonstrate a commitment to EDI-D (equity diversity inclusion and decolonization) in their teaching or professional practice for the following courses:

Sheridan professors are responsible for developing an effective learning environment for students while respecting their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds experiences and individual learning styles.

What Youll Be Doing

• Delivering course curriculum in classroom which includes ensuring student awareness of course objectives approach and evaluation techniques;
• Ensuring that course curricula are current relevant and reflective of best practices within the professional/program discipline;
• Tutoring and academic counselling of students while evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students work within the course;
• Creating an effective environment for learning which accommodates students diverse cultural and educational backgrounds experiences and individual learning styles.;
• Defining evaluating and validating learning outcomes and designing appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning;
• Developing individualized instruction and multi-media presentations and incorporating technology into the learning process where applicable;
• Attending periodic faculty meetings;
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate(s) will also meet the following qualifications:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent is strongly preferred;
• Applicants who can demonstrate a commitment to EDI-D (equity diversity inclusion and decolonization) in their teaching or professional practice will be given preference;
• Minimum of 3-5 years related professional experience;
• Experience in teaching at the post-secondary level or equivalent is an asset (e.g. professional development workshops);
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment.
