Reporting to the Privacy & Intellectual Property Lead this position is a member of the Office of the General Counsel and provides legal support to the firms privacy data protection and intellectual property program. The role supports all facets of the firms enterprise-wide compliance with applicable privacy laws and internal policies and procedures.The successful candidate will provide strategic and practical advice on all aspects of privacy data governance and information protection including data protection impact assessments records retention breach management data loss prevention individual access rights commercial contracting privacy training and awareness and new ventures involving data. This role also supports intellectual property considerations where they intersect with the firms privacy and data governance objectives. As needed this role will support continuity across all aspects of the privacy and data protection program including breach management in the absence of the Privacy & Intellectual Property Lead. This position requires collaboration with internal stakeholders and leadership providing clear solutions-oriented counsel that balances compliance with business objectives

Providingstrategicadvice on privacy data governance and information protection including breach management in the absence of thePrivacy &Intellectual Property Lead
Acting as a member of the Office of General Counsel and collaborating with senior leadership to supportthe firms privacy and data protection program
Advising on IT solution onboarding including AI deployments assessing privacy data protection and related intellectual property implications ofnew technology and evaluating vendor arrangements for compliance with applicable privacy laws and data governance standards
Supporting the development and implementation of privacy-related policiesprocesses risk assessments training and compliance monitoring
Delivering day-to-day guidance and implementation of privacy legal advice for each of PwCs Lines of Service
Drafting and reviewing contract clauses related to privacy data protection (includingfor emergingtechnology) and advising on applicable Canadian privacyregulatoryrequirements relevant to contract terms.
Maintaining current knowledge of federalprovincial and international privacy data security and information protection laws and emerging regulatory developments
Collaborating with and advising internal stakeholders at a local and network level
Preparing legal documents and coordinating requests between internal and external counsel
Acting as a Subject Matter Expert in privacy and data protection

Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario with the ability to practice law in Ontario is
Professional certifications such as CIPP/C CIPP/E CIPM or AIGP are strongly preferred
Extensive privacy and data protection law experience gained in a law firm in-house legal department or regulatory environment and experience advising on CASL and Canadian federal and provincial privacy legislation
Fundamental understanding of privacy laws (PIPEDA GDPR CASL provincial privacy laws)
Familiarity with AI governance frameworks cross-border data transfer mechanisms and records management principles
Knowledge of intellectual property laws as they intersect with privacy and data protection
Able to work across diverse projects intersecting privacy datatechnologyand intellectual property in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
Ability to explain complex legal and regulatory information to business partners in a straightforward accessible manner
Strong negotiating and influencing skills with the ability to build consensus among stakeholders
Keen attention to detailwith ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities

The salary range for this position is $116400 - $166400.The posted salary rangerepresentsthe expected hiring range forPwC locations in major citycentres. Given our national recruiting approach ranges may vary for positions in other locations.
