Overview

As part of the development of wind energy projects in Quebec and internationally we are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer who will play a key role in the design and coordination of medium-voltage (MV) collector systems for wind farms.

The successful candidate will serve as the technical authority for collector systems from the conceptual stage through commissioning support while applying industry best practices from both Canadian and international wind energy projects.


Your Role

  • Lead the design of medium-voltage (MV) collector systems for onshore wind projects;
  • Define the optimal electrical architecture including voltage levels circuit topology protection strategy and grounding approach;
  • Develop and review single-line diagrams routing plans cable calculations loss studies and short-circuit studies;
  • Select and specify MV equipment including cables switchgear transformers protection devices and sectionalizing equipment;
  • Ensure integration of the collector system with substations and the grid interconnection point;
  • Collaborate closely with civil environmental substation and interconnection engineering teams;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Quebec codes and standards as well as owner and operator requirements;
  • Apply and promote wind farm design best practices derived from Canadian and international projects;
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experience engineers and designers;
  • Support construction testing and commissioning activities as required.

About You

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and being of the OIQ;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design of medium-voltage electrical systems;
  • Significant experience in the design of collector systems for wind energy projects;
  • Strong understanding of wind farm design principles including performance reliability constructability and maintainability;
  • Familiarity with wind energy design practices in Canada and internationally;
  • Good knowledge of applicable standards and codes including CSA IEC IEEE and local utility requirements;
  • Strong technical leadership and ability to make critical engineering decisions;
  • Excellent communication multidisciplinary coordination and teamwork skills;
  • Detail-oriented autonomous and practical in project engineering execution;
  • Strong proficiency in French (working language) and good verbal and written communication skills in English*.

* This position requires knowledge of a language other than French namely English as it involves collaboration with members of the Canadian or global leadership team located outside Québec.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $125040 - $171930 annually . Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers
