Powertrain Service Bay Technician – Journeyperson

• Disassembly inspection and assembly of all Caterpillar Powertrain Components including but not limited to transmissions differentials torques clutches final drives and brakes

• Utilization of CAT SIS 2.0 to research parts information service letters and service magazines

• Work within the repair and return setting to meet customer requirements regarding additional salvage opportunities expanded parts re-use and accurate parts and labour quotation

• Work with tech services to diagnose component failure and prepare service report for customer

• Ability to read and interpret various types of technical drawings

• Utilizing internal computer programs to categorize all parts complete online learning modules send emails view technical drawings etc.

Qualifications:

• HET Journeyperson ticket or interprovincial Red Seal is required

• Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C

• Multiple years experience in the heavy equipment powertrain field working on preferably Caterpillar components (disassembly inspection assembly service bay or test)

• Proven ability to effectively use precision measuring tools hand and power tools and follow instruction using assembly manuals

• Proven ability to navigate through software programs such as EBOM system efficiently and effectively logging job progress and ownership

• Strong organizational skills and safety awareness with the ability to safely adapt to a changing environment

• Ability to understand and follow scope of repair process and identify scope adjustments as necessary

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to create a safe and positive work environment

• Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively

• Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds

• A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator

• Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner & comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures

Note:

• This posting is for a static afternoon shift scheduled Monday Thursday; 10 hours per day

• Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement
