Working with the Town of Newmarkets Recreation & Culture Team means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! Working in Recreation means being apart of something special gaining valuable work experience and learning new skills. We are looking for dedicated individuals who enjoy working with others with a passion to deliver high quality programs events and services. One thing is for certain you will love the experience and our participants will too!

The Successful Candidate Will:

  1. Deliver a fun safe and inclusive pickleball programs drop-ins and events.

  2. Ensure attendance is taken at each class and all paperwork is handed in promptly on the last day of the session.

  3. Provide quality customer service to participants parents/guardians and the general public. Respond to program feedback enquiries and requests promptly.

  4. Communicate and document any concerns to the Recreation Programmer (health and safety attendance participants equipment inventory facility spaces).

  5. Respond to emergency situations including performing minor first aid and/or arranging for medical assistance.

  6. Manage their class time and preparation time as well as arriving on time for their program.

Requirements
  1. NCCP Instructor Level 1 Certification required.

  2. Minimum 3.0 DUPR playing level.

  3. Demonstrated ability to work well with children youth and adults.

  4. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the general public participants parents/guardians of participants and staff.

  5. Energetic and enthusiastic personality dealing with members and guests.

  6. Experience teaching lessons in a club setting with all ages is preferred.

  7. Able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

  8. Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.

  9. Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification required.

  10. Current High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development and High Five Sport certifications required.

  11. Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification or Safe Management certification an asset.

Please Note:Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.

Disclaimer:Candidates whose Standard First Aid certification expires after June 22 2026 must renew their certification through aWSIB-approved providerand obtain the new Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C certification at candidates own cost.
