Overnight Worker
Job Summary
- Work as part of the team to provide security of the building during the overnight shift including securing all doors at curfew patrolling the building screening visitors and ensuring that no unauthorized people enter the facility.
- Attend to emergencies.
- Conduct emergency intakes and assist new residents to settle in.
- Provide support feedback behaviour management and input and/or crisis intervention to clients on issues of daily living.
- Enter notes regarding case progress as required and print notes for files.
- Update daily logs and complete daily and weekly occupancy reports.
- Complete daily overnight checklist update complete and file various forms and logs.
- Keep office area organized and clean; prepare rooms for intakes; set up breakfast ingredients for residents.
- Ensure residents have completed weekly chores.
- Report maintenance issues including the urgency to Maintenance Worker.
- Keep the building clean especially laundry and common rooms and do laundry when necessary.
- Attend joint staff meetings.
- Answer telephones; page or direct calls to appropriate extension.
- Related social services diploma or equivalent with experience preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in client service.
- Knowledge of the social service system in Toronto.
- Ability to deal with and de-escalate abusive behaviour.
- Initiative reliability and ability to work positively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to perform housekeeping procedures.
- Commitment to completing mandatory Hostel Standards CPR & WHMIS training.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to stay awake during the overnight shift.
