About Red Door: Red Door is a not-for-profit organization. The mission of the Red Door Shelter is to end homelessness for each family that comes through our doors by providing safe temporary refuge and critical services to support them in healing rebuilding their lives and integrating back into a community. At Red Door we strive for quality care advocacy collaboration integrity and accountability.
Responsibilities:
- Work within a collaborative team to provide meaningful and relevant services to women and children who are currently experiencing or who have experienced violence.
- Plan design implement and evaluate Housing and Outreach Transitional Support Program.
- Provide support and direct contact to families transitioning into the community and community clients by developing person centered safety & transition plans; providing necessary community supports through direct service or referrals; and advocacy in the following areas:
- Housing
- Long-term counselling
- Parenting support
- Educational upgrades
- Job training
- Applying for income support
- Immigration process including applications
- Cultural interpretation
- Legal process including legal aid court attendance and custody; and
- Health and wellness services
- Peer support
- Participate in case conferences provide case management support services and act as an advocate on behalf of clients.
- Provide crisis intervention and counselling for women in the community as needed.
- Provide referrals and connections to all other housing stability resources including healthcare family support immigration training and employment.
- Facilitate client meetings to evaluate plans and determine emerging client/resident needs.
- Maintain appropriate and confidential records of all clients. Provide referral letters as required.
- Maintain records compile program statistics and prepare reports and correspondence as required.
- Work with women individually and/or in groups to develop and improve social and living skills by assisting them to set goals follow through on plans recognize options and make positive choices.
- Provide additional supports to program and team as directed.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Social Work Social Services or equivalent education from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Training in VAW Trauma Informed Care Case Management and Mental Health;
- Solid understanding of harm reduction principles;
- 2 years experience working with women and children experiencing violence.
- Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and supports focused on housing counseling legal support and community resources;
- In-depth knowledge of the dynamics of woman abuse and trauma within an anti- racist and anti-oppression framework;
- Ability to understand and interpret legislation and requirements of relevant social organizations (i.e. Ontario Works; ODSP; Housing Connections; Tenant Protection Act);
- Experience using case management principles and tools;
- Demonstrated experience in the development delivery and evaluation of workshops and groups;
- Ability to conduct interviews with clients to identify and implement safety and transition plans;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that connect you to people resources and the community;
- Detail oriented individual with solid evaluation organizational negotiation and conflict resolution skills.;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word WISH Outlook and the Internet;
- Knowledge and understanding of advocacy housing issues and precarious and transitional housing issues

Salary: $33.25 - $33.82 per hour as per collective agreement
