Through collaboration with partners across government and sectors OAMH addresses the broader social determinants of health and advances acoordinated system-wide approach to achieving universal access and improving mental health and addictions outcomes for Nova Scotians.

About Our Opportunity

The Office of Addictions and Mental Health (OAMH) is seeking to contract an individual with a degree in business management or health or social sciences discipline to support the Provinces first mental health and addictions Insured Services Program (ISP) as the Operations Manager.

This is a full-time position and OAMH is seeking an individual available to work 1.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) or 35 hours per week. The position allows for both in-person and remote work and will have one direct report.

Role Overview

The Operations Manage supports the Province of Nova Scotias efforts to transform the mental health and addictions care system by contributing to the this role the Operations Manager advances the development and effectiveness of the ISP by monitoring of program milestones and identifying recommending and supporting datainformed operational solutions.

The Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the Mood and Anxiety stream including liaising with Nova Scotia Health and IWK provincial intake teams; identifying and resolving ISP process and flow challenges; streamlining processes for ISP clinicians and clients and identifying opportunities for system improvement and implementing viable solutions.

Serving as a central coordination hub the Operations Manager fosters crossteam collaboration and provides informed recommendations to OAMHs ISP leadership on highpriority and emerging system needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leads the operational delivery of the ISP through the coordination of day-to-day implementation monitoring performance of the program facilitating cross-functional coordination with program partners resolving issues as they develop and continuously aligning with approved priorities.
  • Provides oversight for the ISP Administrative Coordinator who reports directly to this role ensuring administrative activities are effectively aligned with operational priorities processes and delivery requirements.
  • Leads and assists with identifying program risks monitoring milestones supporting change management efforts and offering data-driven solutions to enhance ISP effectiveness.
  • Supports data analysis that advances ISP development and effectiveness. This may include proposing solutions for scheduling records management and other duties as required.
  • Supports measurement-based care integration by clinicians into care delivery from an operational perspective.
  • Provides informed recommendations to OAMH senior leadership on high-priority risks or initiatives within ISP.
  • Ensures clear and timely communication within OAMH and with Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health ISP partners.
  • Foster regular cross-team collaboration to support priorities.
  • Act as a hub for communication to ensure all team members remain informed and aligned on strategic initiatives.

The ISP Operations Manager is accountable to the OAMH Senior Strategist responsible for the ISP.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree in business management or health or social sciences required.
  • Minimum of one year leadership experience.
  • Strong judgment professional discretion and familiarity with clinical operations.
  • Proven ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Technological proficiency as the role involves considerable online presence and resource access.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Masters degree.
  • Minimum of five years experience in related clinical operations mental health and addictions area.
  • Experience in clinical operations and/or overseeing a team of clinicians.
