About Our Opportunity


The Business Analyst under the leadership of the Operations Manager is responsible for providing analytical and problem-solving services to programs Service Delivery and the Operations Unit. As the Analyst you will be responsible for documenting business needs and coordinating and/or completing changes necessary to meet those needs.

You will be involved with the creation of or changes to existing systems forms and procedures. You will have a direct impact on projects driving progress and enhancements to departmental outcomes and strategic priorities to best serve Nova Scotias most vulnerable people.

Primary Accountabilities


In this position we count on your expertise to assess business requirements and opportunities formulate options and define recommended solutions. You will achieve this by:

  • consulting with clients evaluating current solutions/services and recommending solutions;
  • supporting solution implementation;
  • leading the preparation and documentation of; business requirements functional requirements business cases workflow process and data models;
  • designing and developing business requirements for solution changes; and
  • developing and maintaining business process and how to material


You will work with staff and with our technology team to ensure changes are monitored tested evaluated and ready for implementation.

Qualifications and Experience


As our next Business Analyst you have completed a bachelors degree and have five (5) years of related experience. You must have experience designing and building a modern SharePoint Online site (intranet/portal) within Microsoft 365.

It is considered an asset if you have experience in:

  • SharePoint architecture site design and custom development using SharePoint Framework (SPFx)
  • Designing and maintaining digital documents and content using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
  • Supporting case management systems
  • Release Management
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Certification or training in business analysis is highly desirable

Essential to your success is your ability to exercise initiative sound judgment and assess risk when making decisions and recommending solutions. This is a fast-paced environment with strict competing deadlines; as such your flexibility and ability to multitask and manage a high business volume are critical.

You are aneffective communicator (written and oral) and display superior analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with computers and a variety of computer software such as the Microsoft Suite (Word Excel Outlook and Teams) is required. Experience with Power Automate Power Apps and JavaScript would be an asset.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination standardized tests oral presentations interview(s) and reference checks.

Equivalency


We recognize equivalent combinations of training education and experience providing opportunities for individuals with diverse backgrounds to contribute their skills and expertise. Equivalencies include but are not limited to:

  • Completion of a masters degree and three (3) years of related experience
  • Nine (9) years of related experience

Working Conditions


This position often encounters urgent requests for assistance to resolve issues. You must be able to work under pressure within a schedule that is prone to interruptions. There is a potential for high stress levels in urgent situations.

Your normal work week is 35 hours/week 7 hours/day.

Additional Information


This is a TEMPORARY employment opportunity with an anticipated end date of January 15 2027. The appointment status (term temporary or casual) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Salary Range: $2805.63- $3410.48Bi-Weekly
