Operations Manager G&E Contracting LP
Job Summary
An exciting opportunity exists at G&E Contracting LP for an Operations Manager. This is a full-time position based out G&Es Langford yard in Victoria with jobsites in the local area and over Vancouver Island.
G&E Contracting LP is seeking a driven experienced and safety-focused professional to join our team as an Operations Manager. This role provides leadership and direction to field and office personnel with the goal of delivering projects safely efficiently and profitably while supporting the continued growth of our civil construction business.
Reporting directly to the General Manager the Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple civil construction projects and support strategic planning resource management business development and employee development.
G&E Contracting specializes in civil construction and infrastructure projects throughout Vancouver Island and British Columbia. Our services include earthworks underground utilities road construction site development mechanical construction and public infrastructure projects. We are committed to delivering high-quality projects while maintaining the highest standards of safety environmental stewardship and customer service.
The Successful Candidate Shall Have the Following Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of progressive management experience within the civil construction industry.
- Degree diploma or technical training in Civil Engineering Construction Management Business Administration or a related discipline is preferred.
- Strong understanding of civil construction methods project delivery contract administration and estimating practices.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects supervisors and operational teams.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Strong financial acumen including budgeting forecasting cost control and productivity analysis.
- Experience interpreting contracts specifications permits and regulatory requirements.
- Exceptional leadership organizational and communication skills.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel Outlook Word and Teams.
Job Duties Include But Are Not Limited To The Following:
- Provide leadership and direction to project managers supervisors forepersons and field crews.
- Develop and implement operational plans schedules objectives and strategic growth initiatives.
- Support business development efforts and identify new project opportunities within target markets.
- Oversee project performance to ensure work is completed safely on schedule within budget and to client expectations.
- Review project financial performance including budgets forecasts productivity metrics and cost reports.
- Participate in tender reviews project planning resource allocation and risk management activities.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships clients subcontractors consultants suppliers and regulatory agencies. While ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements environmental regulations and company policies.
- Promote a culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement throughout all operations.
- Conduct regular site visits to support project teams monitor progress and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee procurement of equipment materials subcontractors and professional services as required.
- Work collaboratively with corporate support teams to improve operational effectiveness and reporting processes.
- Mentor and develop staff through performance management coaching and succession planning initiatives.
- Participate in health and safety meetings and ensure implementation of company safety programs and corrective actions.
- Plan and coordinate labour equipment and other operational resources across projects to support project requirements and changing business priorities.
- Work closely with the General Manager to establish operational priorities and support annual and longer-term business planning.
