Occupational Therapist, Special Population (231999)

In accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient & staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

The Occupational Therapist works as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing occupational therapy services to Special Population clients residing within the Long-Term Care (LTC) facility as well as their families and other stakeholders. Provides general Occupational Therapy clinical services to clients with a focus on behavioural strategies and interventions relevant to special populations such as those with mental health and substance use conditions. Participates in the provision of education to the client caregiver service provider public and other stakeholders related to Special Populations in the LTC environment.

Graduation from a recognized university program in Occupational Therapy. Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as an Occupational Therapist. Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). One to two years experience working with Mental Health & Substance Use Services clients. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
