This role is part of the Risk Governance Office (RGO) within Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) which is part of Enterprise Risk & Portfolio Management (ERPM) BMOs second line of defence. The Risk Governance Office is responsible for developing maintaining and overseeing the frameworks standards methodologies and practices that support effective risk governance clear accountability and consistent execution of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) across the enterprise and Combined U.S. Operations (CUSO).
The Manager Risk Governance develops implements and maintains risk governance frameworks standards processes and practices that support effective oversight transparency accountability and regulatory compliance. The role provides governance oversight advisory support monitoring reporting and challenge to help ensure governance requirements are implemented managed and monitored consistently across the organization.
Key Accountabilities:
Develops maintains and enhances risk governance frameworks standards methodologies procedures and supporting guidance.
Leads implementation of governance requirements and promotes consistent application across business groups corporate functions jurisdictions and material entities.
Acts as a trusted advisor on risk governance requirements and provides advice guidance and effective challenge regarding the implementation of governance frameworks policies standards and practices.
Conducts analysis and assessments to identify governance issues emerging trends risks and opportunities for improvement and recommends appropriate actions.
Leads monitoring measurement and reporting activities related to governance effectiveness implementation progress and adherence to governance requirements.
Develops and maintains governance reporting metrics dashboards and management information to support stakeholder and management decision-making.
Researches emerging regulatory requirements industry trends and leading practices and recommends enhancements to governance frameworks and practices.
Supports regulatory examinations audits reviews and governance-related remediation activities.
Assesses the impact of new or changing regulatory requirements and contributes to the development and implementation of governance enhancements.
Leads or participates in governance regulatory and strategic initiatives including stakeholder engagement communication implementation and change management activities.
Develops governance tools templates communications training and supporting documentation to promote awareness and consistent application of governance requirements.
Builds effective relationships across the three lines of defence and collaborates with stakeholders to drive alignment transparency and effective governance outcomes.
Analyzes data and information to provide insights recommendations and support informed decision-making.
Qualifications:
Typically 5-7 years of experience in risk management governance compliance audit internal controls regulatory management or related disciplines.
Experience developing implementing maintaining or overseeing governance frameworks policies standards controls or oversight programs.
Strong understanding of governance risk management regulatory expectations and internal control principles.
Strong analytical problem-solving communication stakeholder management and influence skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities work independently and exercise sound judgment in a complex environment.

The above represents BMO Financial Groups pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location skills experience education and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Groups expected target for the first year in this position.
