You are a curious energetic and results driven communications professional with experience managing teams and change in fast-paced diverse and growing organizations. You are a compelling communicator looking for an opportunity to grow your leadership skills and be a part of making a difference for Seaspans workforce. With the support of the Director of Communications you will manage the team developing content for Seaspans diverse employees across the shipyards and marine group teams. This will include developing a multi-year strategic plan advising senior leaders on internal visibility and working with a variety of stakeholders across the organization to understand and meet their needs for internal communications.
Note: This is a 20-month limited term maternity leave coverage with eligible benefits and 4 weeks vacation. Due to business needs this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue North Vancouver.
What youll do
- Develops and oversees internal communications strategies to ensure the communication of corporate programs is consistently delivered and understood.
- Produce content for internal events including presentations speeches and speaking notes.
- Reviews communications across the organization to develop maintain and communicate standards for communications focusing on clarity simplicity style consistency as well as brand identity and delivery.
- Identify new communications strategies tools and channels to support overall internal communications objectives.
- Develop and implement integrated internal/external communications plans associated with Seaspans activities and priorities.
- Work as part of the Communications team to communicate business strategies and provide consistent and compelling content across all platforms.
- Has accountability for the company intranet content and related internal communication channels such as the internal newsletter digital signage system etc.
- Oversees budget and event programming for internal events.
What youll bring
- A post-secondary degree in Business Communications Journalism Public Relations or Human Resources.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in internal or external communications particularly as a business partner.
- Extensive experience writing editing information gathering and researching in a business environment to craft compelling and strategically relevant content that stands out from the crowd connects and resonates with all audiences.
- Experience leading and developing change management and communication campaigns and change management of large-scale initiatives across multiple internal target audiences.
- Established track record collaborating with and proactively supporting senior leaders on communication strategies and best practices client service mindset and consultative approach.
- Supervisory experience.
- Highly effective and self-motivated collaborator a strong teammate with great communication skills able to build consensus across and influencing a variety of internal business units and levels of leadership.
- Outstanding English writing and editing skills; ability to write for a broad spectrum of multi-media communications channels including multi-culture/lingual sensitivity.
- Understand the power of story to build a brand personality.
- Have a journalists nose for a story and are highly creative with a strong design sensibility.
- Ability to lead advocate for and motivate a team through successes and challenges.
- Deep understanding of the role of human communication in achieving business objectives.
- Strong ability to develop and maintain relationships both internally with managers and employees and externally with outside vendors
- Possess strong project management and organizational skills to meet multiple initiatives on time and on budget.
- Strategic problem solver able to clearly articulate the business goal behind the creation of a piece or series of content.
- Track record for getting things done finding solutions to sophisticated challenges and turning ideas into measurable plans.
- Curious and think like an educator intuitively understanding what the audience needs to know and how they want to consume it.
- Innovative mindset always looking for ways to improve how Seaspan communicates with and engages employees.

The estimated salary for this position is $135000 - $165000. In determining final salary Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidates skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Companys sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
