Maintenance Supervisor

A Day in the Life:

This position is responsible for assigning coordinating and participating in the day-to-day maintenance activities of various assets in various locations while ensuring the provision of safe timely and efficient service.

What Youll Be Doing:

• Plans lays-out and participates in work activities to complete safety and regulatory inspections material bulk handling equipment maintenance facility repair and preventative maintenance programs ensuring a high standard of workmanship and acceptable standards of production and safety.
• Budgets plans communicates and executes on large scale facility shutdowns with various Contractors Viterra Merchants Rail Logistics Regional and Local Facility Staff.
• Orders material checks pre-ordered material and makes local purchases. Participates in work site business planning meetings as required with local operations employees. Responsible for coordinating local contractor services. Assists maintenance staff to expedite other projects as required.
• Controls and monitors critical equipment inventory based on facility design and inventory availability.
• Identifies safety training requirements explains safe work practices to be employed in various work assignments and ensures safe working practices are followed by internal and external personnel on the work site.
• Compiles accurate timely and legible administrative documents including time certificates job completion reports pre-maintenance records purchase orders and expense accounts through the use of a computer.
• In consultation with the Regional Maintenance Managers manages grain facilities maintenance and repair budgets based on projected grain volumes and equipment usage.
• Manages and monitors the local maintenance staffs operating budget.
• Ensure company equipment and material receive proper care custody maintenance and usage.
• Responsible for coordinating local contracted service programs.
• Actively participates in Market Centre team meetings.
• Identifies implements and communicates management and operational best practices to colleagues within the branch division and inter-divisional partners/customers.
• In conjunction with operations staff develops and provides training to employees in the operation of cleaning drying and processing equipment. Provides ongoing technical support to operations staff.
• Evaluates employee performance and makes recommendations to the manager on the hiring promotion and discharge of employees.
• Performs other duties as required.

Skills & Experience Requirements:

• Journeyman certificate in Industrial Mechanic/Millwright trade.
• Minimum of four (4) years progressive experience in bulk material handling maintenance and repairs three (3) years of which have been as a Maintenance Technician or Millwright.
• Grade 12 or recognized equivalent. Journeyman level certificate in the Industrial Mechanic/Millwright trade supplemented with supervisory training.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
• Experience in reading building plans and blueprints.
• Demonstrated physical ability to perform the functions of the job.
• Availability to work extended or on-call hours.
• Class 5 drivers license.
