The Opportunity

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor the Maintenance Person is responsible for carrying out material and equipment installations renovations repairs and servicing in the following areas - carpentry plumbing heating electrical painting and ventilation on properties under the jurisdiction of Western District.

What youll do
Responsibilities
  • Carry out assessment and preventative maintenance to all assigned buildings appliances fixtures utilities and equipment in accordance with established standards policies and procedures.
  • Maintain properties under the jurisdiction of the Western District including walks driveways and parking areas drainage systems curbs and gutters swales culverts manholes catch basins etc.
  • Prepare and complete documentation such as work orders vehicle reports maintenance logs inspection reports and inventory records.
  • Repair vacant units to make them rent-ready.
  • Operate motor vehicles motorized equipment and power tools used in the trade.
  • Respond to after-hours maintenance calls while participating on the standby duty roster.
What youll need
Qualifications

Must Have

  • Grade 12 or equivalent plus five years experience in building and property maintenance or a related field. Must be able to perform basic tasks in carpentry plumbing heating electrical painting and drywall.
  • Ability to operate electrical and mechanical tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks using good body mechanics.
  • Knowledge of residential building technology basic knowledge of National Building Code and Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Nice to Have

  • Emergency First Aid and WHMIS certifications.
  • Knowledge of computer systems is beneficial.

An equivalent combination of training education and experience may be considered.

This position requires a valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle. Travel within the Western district is required.
