Reporting to the General Manager of the Energy & Power Innovation Centre (EPIC) the Low Carbon Project Lead will be responsible for supporting projects with Canadian SMEs as they navigate a changing market and Canadas transition to the low carbon economy.
The incumbent will conduct research and analysis as well as communicate frequently with industry partners through the duration of each project. Sustainability analyses include lifecycle assessment carbon accounting and reporting business sustainability strategies and target-setting. The Low Carbon Project Lead will recommend solutions that often draw on a complex analysis of policy markets and forecasting of future opportunities under the supervision of the Low Carbon Readiness Program Manager.
This position will also act as a hands-on resource supporting the Centre projects as well as provide support and input into dissemination activities to showcase the Centre and project results.
What youll be doing:
Project coordination including stakeholder management and communication project design coordination and execution of deliverables.
- Conduct exploratory meetings with SMEs seeking support from the Low Carbon Readiness Program. Determine project objective and create a scope of work based on discussions.
- Design the project and establish a workplan to ensure project work is on-time and in alignment with the project scope.
- Perform relevant administrative tasks (e.g. draft scoping executing NDA writing project summaries data entry and project reporting).
Perform technical evaluations such as emissions baselines lifecycle assessments carbon accounting exercises and pre-feasibility energy/GHG assessments; research potential solutions; and conduct comparative analyses.
- Conduct research synthesize information and analysis as relevant to the project objective and to ensure state-of-the art understanding.

Writing reports for and presenting results to multiple audiences.
- Effectively communicate complex concepts in an accessible manner through meetings presentations and written material.
Act as a strategic analyst and advisor to project sponsors and partners this includes building and maintaining professional and productive relationships.
- Conduct follow-up impact surveys with past project partners which entails establishing email communication scheduling the interview engaging the partner in conversation while following the question script and capturing the survey responses.

What youll bring to the role:
- A university degree in Business Sustainability Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- As an asset a Masters or post-graduate certificate in sustainability management environmental management or resource planning. Additional professional training and certifications in greenhouse gas emissions accounting and protocols ISO standards etc. will be considered assets.
- Relevant experience considered when directly related to the focus areas of the Centre.
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights equity diversity inclusion and accessibility.
- The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students employees and communities.
