Were looking for an Employment Lawyer who enjoys partnering with business leaders HR professionals and legal colleagues to provide practical business-focused advice in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Director Legal Affairs youll advise on employment law matters across Canada helping manage legal risk while enabling business success.
This is an excellent opportunity for an intermediate lawyer who is looking to broaden their practice beyond traditional legal work and become a trusted advisor within a global organization.
As Legal Counsel Employment Law you will:
Provide strategic legal advice to HR and business leaders on employment law matters across Canada.
Advise on employee relations workplace investigations litigation human rights privacy and occupational health and safety issues affecting CGI members.
Manage employment-related disputes and litigation in partnership with external counsel balancing legal risk with practical business solutions.
Draft review and update employment-related policies agreements and internal documentation.
Monitor legislative and case law developments proactively identifying emerging risks and trends and recommending practical actions.
Deliver training and guidance to HR teams and business leaders on employment law developments and best practices.
Partner closely with Human Resources Privacy Risk & Compliance and other internal stakeholders on cross-functional initiatives.
Support the Director Legal Affairs as needed.
Education & Membership
Law degree (LL.B. J.D. or equivalent).
Member in good standing of a Canadian provincial Bar.
Experience
4 years of employment law experience gained in private practice an in-house legal department or a combination of both.
Strong knowledge of Canadian employment law including experience supporting multiple jurisdictions.

Language Requirements
Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this position. The successful candidate will regularly collaborate with colleagues and business stakeholders across Canada in both official languages.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level geographic market experience and training and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $75000$125000 This role is an existing vacancy.
