Our client a leading national law firm with a strong presence in the Vancouver market is seeking a Legal Assistant to join its Real Estate group on a 12-month maternity leave contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive legal support professional who enjoys working in a collaborative fast-paced environment supporting sophisticated commercial real estate matters.

The Role

Working closely with a team of lawyers within the Real Estate group the successful candidate will provide a combination of legal and administrative support related to commercial real estate transactions and day-to-day practice management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Open and organize new client files
  • Conduct BC Online and corporate online searches
  • Receive process and manage strata lot sale contract deposits
  • Assist with transaction closings including preparing and organizing closing documentation
  • Coordinate with the accounting and finance teams regarding trust reconciliations deposits closing funds payouts holdbacks and investments
  • Assist with client billing invoice preparation and account correspondence
  • Prepare expense reports
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date contact information
  • Liaise with lawyers staff and internal stakeholders across multiple offices
  • Manage calendars schedule meetings and coordinate travel arrangements
  • Provide additional administrative and legal support as required
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a law firm environment
  • Legal Administrative Assistant diploma or equivalent education preferred
  • Experience or familiarity with real estate and/or corporate law considered an asset
  • Strong technical skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent organizational communication and multitasking abilities
  • Exceptional proofreading skills and attention to detail
  • Professional dependable and service-oriented approach
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment
  • Strong discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
