Our client a highly regarded and established Vancouver law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join its Employment & Labour practice with a particular focus on litigation and dispute-related matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong litigation Legal Assistant who enjoys managing busy files working closely with lawyers and being part of a collaborative and professional team.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal and administrative support to lawyers handling a variety of employment and labour litigation matters. You will play an important role in managing files and deadlines preparing court materials coordinating litigation processes and ensuring matters move forward efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal administrative support on employment and labour litigation matters.
  • Open organize maintain and close client and matter files.
  • Maintain bring-forward systems and track limitation dates court deadlines discoveries mediations hearings and other key dates.
  • Draft revise format and proofread correspondence pleadings affidavits court forms applications and other legal documents.
  • File and serve court documents in accordance with applicable procedures and deadlines.
  • Prepare and organize materials for discoveries mediations arbitrations hearings and trials.
  • Assist with document briefs books of authorities affidavits of documents and other litigation materials.
  • Coordinate with court registries process servers opposing counsel clients experts and other parties.
  • Manage lawyer calendars appointments meetings and court appearances.
  • Assist with monthly billing prebills time entry expenses cheque requisitions and general practice administration.
  • Anticipate upcoming file requirements and proactively follow up on outstanding matters.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant ideally with litigation experience.
  • Experience supporting employment and labour matters is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the BC Supreme Court Civil Rules court filing and service procedures.
  • Strong technical skills including Microsoft Word Excel Outlook Adobe and BC Online.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of work competing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Professional client-focused approach with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
Compensation & Benefits

The expected salary range is $55000$75000 depending on experience and qualifications.
