Learn to Skate Instructor (Part-time)

Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator successful candidates will work within a team to deliver a dynamic Learn to Skate program for children youth and adults of all abilities.

In this role you will work with a team of Learn to Skate Instructors to deliver inclusive Learn to Skate programs for a range of ages and abilities. This includes ensure learners make get the most out of their experience and develop a love for skating. You will work with team to support effective communication with and between the Recreation Coordinator instructors parents/guardians and participants.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach basic skating skills in a small group setting over a 10 week session
• Communicate with other instructors and the Learn to Skate Lead Instructor
• Create an inclusive and adaptable environment on ice
• Provide a fun engaging and positive atmosphere for the skaters
• Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions

Qualifications and Requirements

• Demonstrated experience and knowledge in a recognized Skating Program including technical competence performing skating skills.
• Experience working with non-skaters beginners and advanced skaters in a learn to skate environment.
• Adaptable patient and innovative approach to work
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to respect and maintain participant confidentiality.
• Experience working with individuals living with a disability is an asset.
• Valid CPR Level C and Standard First Aid
• A satisfactory Police Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check is required at time of offer
• Full availability is required for scheduled program days and times.

Hours of Work

• Seasonal position September to March
• Mon-Fri; between 4:30-8 p.m. (approx. 10-20 hours/week)

Pay/Salary
$18.68 per hour
