- Completion of Bachelor of Laws LL.B Juris Doctor J.D or its equivalent
- Membership with the Law Society of Alberta or ability to attain membership with the Law Society of Alberta immediately upon appointment

- Construction litigation and builders liens
- Municipal administrative insurance and bankruptcy and insolvency law
Skills required for success:
- Proven ability to work confidently and effectively manage time under tight constraints
- Political acumen strategic planning issue resolution and sound decision-making skills
- Ability to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences build positive relationships and establish clear expectations
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a cohesive legal and human resources team

Conditions of employment & work environment:
- Up to: 1 temporary full-time position for up to 11 months
- Hours of work: 36.9 hours per week Monday - Friday
- Salary: $103256.73 - $215071.48 (Annually)
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite
- This position is eligible for the EDO program (Earned Day Off)

What will you do
- Represent the City and its employees in legal proceedings before the courts boards and other public forums
- Gather facts through thorough interviews and document review
- Research and skillfully apply the law across diverse factual situations
- Draft clear and effective legal documents
- Provide strategic advice and recommendations for the conduct and successful resolution of cases
- Retain and instruct outside experts across a wide range of specialized areas
- Negotiate and mediate the resolution of complex and adversarial matters
- Proactively provide recommendations and strategies to avoid potential risk and liability
- Research and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Citys structure policy and procedure
