Junior Project Manager

SRG is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Project Manager to support the planning coordination and execution of projects throughout Simpcwulécw. This role is based in our Barriere or Clearwater office and is ideal for an emerging Project Manager to work alongside our existing Construction Management and Project Management team. This opportunity offers on the job mentorship and learning opportunity to expand knowledge and experience on mid-complexity assignments. The ideal candidate will have experience with construction project coordination with a passion to gain deeper understanding of project cost control contract administration and resource planning.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications and experience:
- Diploma in Civil Technology or Bachelors degree in Engineering Environmental Science or Construction Management.
- Demonstrated equivalent work experience in a related field may be considered as acceptable alternative to education credential.
- Minimum 3 years experience in construction or project delivery preferably acting in project coordinator or similar role including earthworks linear infrastructure watercourse crossings remediation pipelines or similar project nature.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments with competing priorities.
- Proficient written and verbal communications.
- Proficient with MS Office including Word Excel and Outlook.
- Knowledge of procurement and contract administration.
- Experience with cost estimating and scheduling software is preferred.
- Understanding of complete project lifecycle from pursuit to closeout.
- Ability and willingness to travel to remote project locations and work out of town for consecutive days or rotations as dictated by project requirements.
- Familiar with interrelationships and roles within a project team including project management field execution QA/QC project controls commercial management safety environmental etc. and how contributions and decisions from one function can impact overall project delivery.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset.
In this role you will:
- Assist in the planning execution monitoring and closing of projects.
- Support the development and maintenance of project plans schedules and budgets.
- Track project milestones contract deliverables and deadlines.
- Monitor project performance metrics including tracking of quantities to report on progress and project health.
- Maintain contract correspondence including RFI OFI and NCR logs.
- Assist with resource planning and task assignments including coordination with other divisions to maximize utilization.
- Identify potential project risks and opportunities and collaborate with project resources to implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate project meetings and create accurate records of communication.
- Maintain project documentation and ensure records are accurate and up to date.
- Carefully monitor the contracted scope of work and identify scope changes.
- Promote a positive safety culture and maintain high degree of knowledge in HSE regulations and client-specific requirements.
- Ensure projects comply with quality specifications safety standards and company policy.
- Escalate issues when appropriate and actively seek advice from peers.
- Contribute to the improvement of company policy and procedure.
- Lead problem solving and act as the primary point of contact for project related challenges.
