The Tŝilhqotin National Government is based in Williams Lake British Columbia serving six communities including ʔEsdilagh Tletinqox Tlesqox Tŝideldel Xeni Gwetin and Yuneŝitin. The Tŝilhqotin National Governments mission is to support and empower Tŝilhqotin peoples to exercise their rights to self-determination within their traditional territories in ways which reflect Tŝilhqotin philosophy values experience and culture.
The Junior Early Childhood Coordinator supports TNG Education and the Senior ECE Coordinator in strengthening early learning and child care services across the Tsilhqotin Nation. The position works collaboratively with community ECE programs Aboriginal Head Start programs families and partners to support culturally grounded high-quality early learning opportunities for Tsilhqotin children.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Senior ECE Coordinator with implementation of TNG Early learning initiatives
- Build positive working relationships with ECE and Head Start staff in Tsilhqotin communities
- Assist with community visits and identification of early learning needs priorities and resources
- Help coordinate ECE meetings professional development training and gatherings
- Support collection and updating of community ELCC program information and demographics
- Assist with reports workplans meeting notes correspondence and project tracking
- Support initiatives that strengthen Tsilhqotin language culture land-based learning and traditional knowledge within early learning
- Participate in meetings with community and external partners as required
Requirements
- ECE Certification or Interest in Early Childhood Education and willingness to explore or pursue ECE training or certification
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Experience working with children youth families community programs education or administration would be an asset.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn about Tsilhqotin culture language traditions values and ways of knowing.
- Experience in childcare or early learning environments
- Excellent communication organizational and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to take direction and feedback
- Reliability and punctuality
Working Conditions
- Travel may be required
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and additional hardware
- Overtime as required
- Lifting or moving up to 25lbs may be required
