Job Opportunities Project Engineer or Coordinator, Water-Sewer Programming

NATURE OF WORK:

The individualwilllead and conductwater and wastewater systemanalysistoalign ourmunicipal infrastructureplanning with Citys growth and housing strategies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to carry out Project Management duties for a project from project inception to closure.

• Interpret and analyze data information processes programs and problems and develop options solutionsimprovements and recommendations.

• Manage and review the work of engineering consultants and Terms of Reference for proposed projects and review proposals for engineering services.

• Reviewreportsdrawings specificationsandplans frominternal branchesengineeringconsultantsand developers to make sure they meet City specifications.

• Manage projects work programs and budgets including contract administration.

• Responsible for coordinating consulting negotiating and collaborating with internal and external agenciesand stakeholders.

• Prepare technical and business reports for presentations public responses internalmemosand other documents.

• Initiate develop and conduct public consultation and information programs.

• Maintain andoperatespecializedanalysis software and be able to interpret results produce reports ( involving water distribution modelling waterwastercollection modelling and storm water modellingor capacity analysis).

• Represent the Department and participate in meetings of Committee and Council other departments public meetings and meetings with consultants and contractors.

• Perform related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge Abilities And Skills:

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of engineeringand planningofwater wastewater and stormwater systems.

• Working knowledge of modeling tools((OpenFLows) InfoWorksArcGIS and/ orotherpipe flow related modelingtools) fordesignandcollection/ distributionsystem wide capacity assessment.

• Knowledge of the principles of organization supervision and administration and the ability to effectively apply these principles.

• Demonstrated skill in project management conducting presentationscommunicatingand selling ideas and in leading group discussion.

• Intermediate skill in MSWord Excel and Access and the ability to develop expertise in the use of specialized software foranalyses data management and communications.

• Ability to express ideas effectively in oral and written form with particular emphasis being placed on the ability to prepareand presentcomprehensive reports to managementCity Counciland the public.

• Ability to plan and organize work assignments and co-ordinate the activities of others.

• Ability to promote and adhere to the principles of teamworkincludingparticipation shared responsibility open communication trust and mutual support and the establishment of continuing effective working relations with superiors subordinates members of City Council contractorssuppliersand thepublic.

• Ability to work independently and develop initiatives and programs in response to the needs of theBranchas well as corporate policies and goals.

• Ability to carry out standard engineering computations.

• Knowledge of the general rules and regulations of the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act as they apply to this position and the ability to develop and ensure adherence to safety procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

For Project Engineer:

• A University degreein Engineering such as Civil Mechanical or Environmental Systemswith a minimum of four yearsrelated engineering experience in the field of municipal water wastewater drainage and solid waste infrastructure.

• Registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.
  
  

For Coordinator Water & Sewer Programming:

• A two (2) year Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology Environmental Engineering Technology or WaterResources Technology with a minimum of five (5) years experience with water wastewater and/or drainageinfrastructure.

• Must be registered with Technology Professionals Saskatchewan (TPS) as a Professional Technologist () or be eligible to obtain during probation period.

WORKING/OTHER CONDITIONS:

• Must posses a valid Class Five (5) drivers license and have a vehicle available for work usage. (A kilometre reimbursement is provided.)

Additional Requirements:

• Successful candidates may be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check per the City of Reginas Criminal Record Check Policy.
• Proof of education is required.
• Additional assessments may be conducted to evaluate competencies skills and knowledge.
