About the Opportunity
A practice group working at the intersection of natural resources and Indigenous law is seeking a lawyer to advise on impact benefit agreements and related resource-development negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise Indigenous communities and/or project proponents on impact benefit agreements

  • Support negotiations between resource companies and Indigenous communities

  • Draft and review IBAs MOUs and related commercial agreements

  • Advise on consultation and accommodation obligations

  • Collaborate with environmental regulatory and corporate colleagues on resource projects

Qualifications

  • Called to the Bar in Ontario or British Columbia in good standing

  • Experience with impact benefit agreements natural resources or Indigenous law

  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills

  • Comfortable working with diverse stakeholders including Indigenous community leadership

  • Willingness to travel as required
