Job Description
The Inline Inspection (ILI) Coordinator is a field-based role supporting Integrity Projects executing pipeline inline inspection work. Acting as the Companys authorized on-site representative the ILI Coordinator works closely with the ILI Project Manager to support the successful preparation execution and close-out of assigned pipeline inspection projects.
The ILI Coordinator works with contractors vendors operations personnel and other project stakeholders to ensure work is completed safely efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Preparation
- Review project scope resources schedules timelines and milestones with the Project Manager.
- Gather and review pipeline and project-specific information including questionnaires pipe tallies historical information schematics drawings schedules and vendor information.
- Evaluate available information against the upcoming project scope and historical pipeline/project data.
- Coordinate with regional personnel Area Managers Field Work Planners Operations Planning ILI tool vendors tracking personnel and resource vendors.
- Coordinate field requirements equipment requirements logistics access resources documentation and pre-work planning.
- Review outage procedures and identify potential project issues.
- Travel to launch and receive sites to perform pre-run site inspections as required.
- Prepare and distribute project field documentation including pre-job forms JSAs and vendor/stakeholder notifications.
Project Execution
- Travel to ILI field locations and coordinate site preparations including matting road access vehicle placement and other site requirements.
- Conduct pre-job meetings and communicate project scope schedule operating procedures safety requirements and expectations.
- Review JSAs Safe Work Practices Job Safety/Hazard Analyses and Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs).
- Verify contractor qualifications orientations crew readiness and equipment availability.
- Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or acts are identified.
- Hold contractors accountable for executing work in accordance with applicable procedures and safety requirements.
- Ensure regional personnel and pipeline readiness including valve checks documentation and isolation plans.
- Supervise ILI launch and receive operations including tool loading trap pressurization valve swings blow-down tool retrieval site clean-up and return to normal operations.
- Coordinate with tracking teams tool vendors Gas Control and regional personnel during cleaning and ILI runs.
- Monitor and facilitate ILI tool speed adjustments as required.
- Maintain required project documentation including daily logs photographs tool and line parameter logs waste/debris information tailgate meetings and safety documentation.
Project Completion
- Support ILI Project Managers with scheduling vendor coordination safety plans performance surveys project documentation incident reporting/investigation and cost tracking.
- Track project costs such as time tickets mats consumables and equipment.
- Ensure vendor demobilization and site clean-up are completed and launch/receive areas are returned to pre-project condition.
- Complete and submit required project documentation.
- Participate in post-project investigations tool failure reviews lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
Senior/Lead Responsibilities Level III & IV
- Mentor and train Level I and II ILI Coordinators.
- Provide leadership and guidance during project preparation setup and execution.
- Supervise and direct vendors and contractors on large or complex ILI projects.
- Support consistent application of safety requirements processes procedures and industry best practices.
- Lead or support program-level scheduling resourcing planning training safety and other operational activities.
- Contribute to improvement initiatives that increase project quality and operational efficiency.
- Level IV Coordinators may act as Assessors/Evaluators and sign off on ILI Coordinator level transitions.
Qualifications :
Level I Entry Level
- Entry-level or trainee ILI Coordinator.
- Ability and willingness to complete extensive on-the-job training.
- Typically requires approximately 36 months of training while paired with an experienced Level II or higher Coordinator.
- Depending on previous experience may require 12 years of supervised field experience before progressing to a higher level.
- Ability to learn pipeline operations ILI procedures field safety requirements and project documentation processes.
- Willingness and ability to travel to pipeline field locations.
Level II Intermediate
- Fully qualified and competent in performing ILI Coordinator responsibilities with limited supervision.
- Strong knowledge of ILI field operations.
- Experience with pipeline construction or related industry processes procedures specifications and contracts.
- Ability to coordinate contractors vendors operations personnel and other project stakeholders.
- Knowledge of pipeline safety practices JSAs hazard assessments and field documentation.
- Ability to independently support ILI project preparation execution and close-out.
Level III Senior
- Extensive experience coordinating and executing ILI projects.
- Strong understanding of the complete ILI project lifecycle including site setup field coordination tool launch/receive operations and project close-out.
- Experience supervising large and/or complex ILI projects.
- Comprehensive understanding of gas handling operations pipeline field operations and site safety protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct vendors and contractors.
- Strong leadership mentoring and coaching capabilities.
- Ability to transfer technical and operational knowledge to junior ILI Coordinators.
- Demonstrated focus on personnel safety project budgets schedules and deliverables.
Level IV Lead
- Extensive senior-level ILI coordination experience and ability to perform all Level III responsibilities.
- Demonstrated leadership of ILI Coordinator teams and complex field projects.
- Experience mentoring training and evaluating ILI Coordinators.
- Ability to act as an Assessor/Evaluator for ILI Coordinator level progression.
- Experience supporting program-level activities such as scheduling resourcing planning training and safety.
- Strong knowledge of ILI field execution pipeline operations contractor management and industry best practices.
- Ability to provide overall technical and operational guidance to Level IIII ILI Coordinators.
General Requirements
- Strong commitment to field and personnel safety.

- Ability to work effectively with contractors vendors operations personnel Project Managers and other stakeholders.
- Ability to review and interpret pipeline drawings schematics project documentation and operating procedures.
