Job Summary

An established and highly respected environmental consulting firm is seeking a Hydrogeologist to join its Vancouver-based team. For nearly three decades the company has built a strong reputation for delivering technically rigorous environmental and water resource solutions to clients in the mining renewable energy government and resource sectors across Canada and internationally. Its multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers collaborates on complex projects spanning the full project lifecycle from baseline studies and permitting through operations closure and reclamation. This opportunity is driven largely by mining and water resources projects across Western and Northern Canada.

As a Hydrogeologist you will contribute to technically challenging groundwater investigations and water resource projects working alongside experienced professionals on multidisciplinary mining and environmental assignments. The role combines fieldwork technical analysis reporting and client interaction offering excellent opportunities for professional growth and exposure to a wide variety of hydrogeological challenges.

Office-basedVancouver BC

Travel: Senior (2 - 3 weeks/year) Intermediate (4 - 5 weeks/year)

Salary: $100k - $160k DOE plus health benefits RRSP matching annual performance bonuses (The final salary will reflect the qualifications relevant experience expertise and professional designations that each candidate brings to the role. Individuals who offer additional strengths or bring exceptional value to the team will be considered for compensation beyond the stated range as our client recognizes and rewards unique contributions.)

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute hydrogeological field investigations.
  • Supervise drilling programs and oversee contractors in the field.
  • Coordinate monitoring well installation development and testing.
  • Install and monitor vibrating wire piezometers.
  • Conduct and interpret packer testing and pump testing programs.
  • Complete groundwater monitoring and hydraulic testing.
  • Design and implement hydrogeological characterization programs.
  • Analyze groundwater data and develop conceptual hydrogeological models.
  • Prepare technical reports figures and regulatory documentation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on environmental assessments permitting mine planning and water management projects.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients regulators and project teams.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess strong hydrogeological fundamentals excellent technical communication skills and meaningful hands-on field experience.

Experience with the following is highly desirable:
  • Drilling supervision.
  • Monitoring well installation and development.
  • Vibrating wire piezometer installation.
  • Packer testing.
  • Pump testing.
  • Groundwater monitoring and hydraulic testing.
  • Hydrogeological characterization programs particularly within mining environments.
Additional qualifications include:
  • Degree in Hydrogeology Geological Engineering Geoscience Earth Sciences or a related discipline.
  • Eligibility for registration or registered as a . British Columbia.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel for field programs throughout Western and Northern Canada.
Assets:
  • Experience working on mining projects.
  • Knowledge of British Columbia environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Experience supporting environmental assessments water management or mine closure projects.
  • Numerical groundwater modelling experience would be considered an asset.
