Summary:

Reporting to the EVP Finance & Human Resources the Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the organizations people strategy and day-to-day HR operations. This position serves as a trusted resource for employees and leaders ensuring a positive employee experience while supporting organizational goals.

The ideal candidate is a proactive adaptable and service-oriented HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. They are comfortable balancing strategic initiatives with hands-on administrative responsibilities and possess the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Employee Relations & HR Operations

  • Support the day-to-day administration of Human Resources across the organization.

  • Act as a primary point of contact for employee and management HR inquiries.

  • Provide guidance and support on HR policies procedures and best practices.

  • Assist in resolving employee relations issues in a fair consistent and timely manner.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.

Talent Management

  • Coordinate and support employee onboarding and orientation programs.

  • Assist with employee offboarding including terminations exit interviews and related documentation.

  • Prepare and manage employment agreements employment status changes and other employee correspondence.

  • Support performance management processes and employee development initiatives.

Compliance & Policy Administration

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and provincial employment legislation and workplace regulations across Canada.

  • Research develop update and communicate HR policies procedures and programs

Employee Experience & Engagement

  • Develop administer and enhance employee engagement recognition wellness and retention programs.

  • Support company culture initiatives that promote employee satisfaction inclusion and organizational effectiveness.

  • Assist with internal communications related to HR programs and initiatives.

Claims Administration

  • Manage disability leave of absence and claims processes in collaboration with employees leaders and benefit providers.

  • Ensure accurate documentation and timely follow-up on employee claims and accommodations.

Other Duties

  • Participate in HR projects process improvements and organizational initiatives as assigned.

  • Support business needs by contributing to special projects and continuous improvement efforts.


Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a Generalist or similar HR role.

  • Previous experience in the insurance industry is preferred.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and HR best practices.

  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Effective problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Adaptable resourceful and comfortable working in a fast-paced evolving environment.
