Compensation: $200000 - $250000/year

Job Description
Position Overview
- As the General Manager you will have full site-wide accountability for the strategic direction operational performance environmental compliance and financial profitability of a major integrated industrial complex.
- Lead operations encompassing paper production woodlands and raw material logistics and associated energy generation assets.
- Serve as the principal corporate leader on-site guiding multidisciplinary teams through complex market conditions rigorous safety requirements and unionized labor environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning & P&L Leadership
- Develop and execute the long-term strategic vision for the mill complex in alignment with corporate objectives and market demands.
- Maintain full accountability for site profit and loss (P&L) including budget approval cost control and return on capital investment optimization.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and digital transformation programs to enhance efficiency reliability and production output.
2. Health Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Champion a Zero Harm safety culture across all operational administrative and forestry functions.
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal environmental regulations relating to emissions effluent treatment sustainability performance and regulatory reporting.
3. Labor Relations & Human Resources
- Foster positive and productive relationships with labor unions representing mill and forestry employees.
- Lead collective bargaining strategies grievance management arbitration processes and labor agreement administration.
- Support talent acquisition leadership development workforce planning and succession management initiatives.
4. Supply Chain Production & Energy Integration
- Coordinate operations throughout the value chain including wood procurement logistics pulp production paper manufacturing and energy generation assets.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators such as fiber yield energy efficiency downtime reduction and product quality.
5. External Stakeholder & Community Engagement
- Act as the primary corporate representative for the mill within the local community.
- Maintain strong relationships with municipal leaders Indigenous communities regional stakeholders and industry associations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Chemical Pulp & Paper Science or related discipline); MBA considered an asset.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in heavy continuous-process manufacturing.
- At least 5 to 7 years of experience at the Plant Manager or General Manager level within pulp and paper packaging forestry or a similar heavy industrial sector.
- Proven success managing operations within a unionized industrial environment including collective bargaining and labor negotiations.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience in budgeting capital projects vendor management and market-driven operational planning.
- Exceptional leadership strategic thinking crisis management decision-making and communication skills.
