General Laborer (Operator)

Job Summary: The general laborer performs a variety of tasks under close supervision of higher-level employees. These tasks may include assisting with extra workload prepping machines and tools for jobs and eventually learning how to operate the machines.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Cleaning and lubricating equipment maintaining a manufacturing area free from debris and dirt and readies or puts away tools as assigned.

• Closely following directions to operate machinery hold or supply materials and tools and load or unload items on machinery.

• Performing a variety of manual tasks.

• Assisting with prepping machines for jobs.

• Reporting any issues to supervisor or higher-level employees.

• Performing other related duties as assigned.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) .

• Job training for this position is provided by the department trainer.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Job training for this position is provided by the department trainer.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to listen understand and follow directions.

• Ability to work in a variety of roles.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing and walking.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

• Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.

• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant.
