GCP Dataplex Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled GCP Dataplex Engineer to design and implement scalable data governance security and cloud-based data management solutions on Google Cloud Platform. This role will focus on operationalizing governance for sensitive telecom datasets using Google Cloud Dataplex BigQuery and Composer/Airflow.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data governance cloud security and data engineering with the ability to build secure reusable and enterprise-aligned data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Data Governance & Architecture

• Design and implement Dataplex Lakes Zones and asset structures aligned with Bronze/Silver/Gold Medallion architecture.
• Register and manage data assets across BigQuery and GCS environments.
• Define and implement metadata tagging strategies including data classification ownership and sensitivity labeling.
• Configure data lineage tracking across ingestion and transformation pipelines.
• Produce low-level architecture designs and reusable governance frameworks.

Security & Compliance

• Implement role-based access control (RBAC) and fine-grained security controls including row/column-level security and data masking.
• Apply encryption and KMS-based controls for sensitive telecom and subscriber datasets.
• Ensure governance and security compliance across enterprise data environments.

Data Engineering & Observability

• Build and enhance Composer/Airflow pipelines with embedded governance and quality controls.
• Develop Dataplex data quality rules and automate validation checks for anomalies missing data and SLA compliance.
• Configure monitoring alerting and observability dashboards for pipeline reliability and operational performance.
• Enable and publish governed data products aligned to business and analytics use cases.
• Automate infrastructure and governance deployment using Pulumi or Terraform.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services including:
  • Google Cloud Dataplex
  • BigQuery
  • Composer / Airflow
  • Google Cloud Storage (GCS)
• Strong expertise in data governance classification RBAC and data security.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python development.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Pulumi or Terraform.
• Experience implementing data quality observability and monitoring frameworks.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Telecom or high-volume telemetry data experience.
• Experience with sensitive data governance and compliance frameworks.
• Familiarity with enterprise data product enablement and reusable governance models.
• Knowledge of cloud security best practices and IAM concepts.
