Hiring Specifications:
Education:

  • Associates degree and 2 years experience
  • Or a combination of education and relevant experience to equal 4 years

Experience:

  • Identify student interns strengths interests andabilitiesrelated tojobskillacquisition and preparation foremployment.
  • Usejobcoaching techniques to promote the internsjobskilldevelopment.
  • Responsible for providing effectivejobskillstraining travel training and transition support services to prepare Project Gateway interns for successful competitive integratedemploymentin the community.

Skills Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of information and techniques needed to providejobcoaching supports to ProjectGateway interns and to provide guidance and training including appropriatejobaccommodations.
  • Assurance and support for safety and security of the employee and the rules regulations precautions prevention and the protection of people data and property as required by the employer.
  • Knowledge of diversity and inclusion best practice and ability to support inclusiveemployment.
  • To have not had a felony conviction or founded dependent child or adult abuse record.
  • To complete the requirements of health immunizations drug test and employee orientation of Waterloo Schools.

Job Duties:

  1. Provide individualized employabilityskillstraining and supports to each intern at the host business including coaching building natural supports in hospital departments identifying creating and implementing reasonable accommodations assistive technology etc.
  2. Participate and successfully complete basicjobcoachtraining within six months of hire (Systematic Instruction Lean and other appropriate training) and continual staff development
  3. Work withinstructorto assess share and provide feedback of internskillprogress and record data completing necessary task analyses evaluations reports and other documentation
  4. Work with team to develop internship sites writejobdescriptions task listsjobanalysis and develop necessary accommodations and modifications for the internships
  5. Assist in educating coworkers and host site staff on disability awareness and disability disclosure
  6. Reinforce employabilityskillsand assists intern to understand and interpretworkculture
  7. Assist in interview training process for interns to obtain internships and competitiveemployment
  8. Learn internship duties across host site departments and make any modifications and accommodations (label cabinets simplifies written instructions etc.) necessary to promote intern independence for successful completion of the internship duties
  9. Teach safe practices according to theworkenvironment and business requirements
  10. Model appropriate workplace behavior and practices positive feedback techniques with interns colleagues and other staff
  11. Assist in training interns to meet required standards in the areas of personal hygiene communication interviewing and self-management and advocacy as they relate to successfulemployment
  12. Work with hospital staff andinstructorto determine newjobtasks as intern gainscompetenciesand confidence
  13. Meet with theinstructorand department mentors regularly to discuss issues and problem solve obstacles affecting interns performance
  14. Communicate to make decisions regarding any issues that may affect an interns success at a worksite or competitive place ofemployment. These decisions may be related to continuedjobcoaching fading self-managementjobtasks etc.
  15. Assist and support in exploringjobopportunities that match interns interests andskills and communicate with all team members aboutjobopportunities.
  16. Attend individualemploymentplanning meetings as appropriate to know interns goals strengths interests and challenges and provide feedback
  17. Provide new internship ideas to team
  18. Perform travel training with interns when utilizing public transportation
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:183 day contract per Board policy and administrative guidelines.
