The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for Fitness Instructors to join our rapidly growing team.

Instructors for Group Fitness classes we are looking to fill:

• Boot Camp/ HIIT
• Pilates
• Aquafit
• AquaZumba
• STEP

Under the guidance and direction of the Recreation Co-ordinator - Fitness & Aquatics the Fitness Instructors provide a high calibre of instruction to participants in a professional ensure patron safety prevent accidents and communicate policies in a polite courteous manner.

How you contribute to our organization:

• Provides instruction in group fitness classes.
• Arriving prepared to teach assigned classes. Arrange for any equipment before the class commences.
• Maintain order safety and discipline during classes.
• Provides supervision within the program space and completes equipment checks ensures all equipment utilized during the class is returned in the proper condition to the proper location.
• Provides customer service support to fitness members and general public. Exercises mature and responsible judgment at all times in dealing with the public and other staff maintaining good public relations.
• Meets Fitness Industry Standards by:
  • Keep physically fit alert and ready to meet any emergency situations.
  • Stays up to date and current with fitness trends safety precautions and contraindicated exercise movements.
• Responds to emergency situations and incidents by: providing necessary first aid contacting EMS as required and informing supervisory staff.
• Works in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and all Town policies procedures and guidelines.

What you bring to the team:

• Relevant certifications or relevant experience.
• Standard First Aid with CPR-C
• Ability to provide a clean Police Records Check Vulnerable Sector Check where appropriate
• Demonstrated knowledge of physical fitness coaching and instructing acquired through education or experience; and formal academic training in Recreation Leadership Kinesiology Physical Education or a related field
• Ability to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with diverse populations

Salary: $29.91 to $35.19 plus 4% vacation pay and optional enrolment in OMERS pension plan.
Hours: 5 to 10 hours per week
Location: Locations vary throughout New Tecumseth (Alliston Beeton and Tottenham)
Start Date: ASAP
