About the Opportunity
A Vancouver practice with a significant Indigenous law group is seeking a lawyer to advise First Nations clients on governance treaty and related matters.
Key Responsibilities
Advise First Nations governments and organizations on legal matters including governance and treaty issues
Support negotiations with government and industry stakeholders
Draft agreements policies and legal opinions for Indigenous community clients
Build and maintain long-term relationships with First Nations clients
Collaborate with colleagues across related practice areas (lands resources litigation)
Qualifications
Called to the Bar in British Columbia in good standing
5 years of experience in Indigenous law or a closely related field
Genuine interest in and sensitivity to working with Indigenous communities
Strong drafting negotiation and advocacy skills
Willingness to travel to community meetings as required
