THEROLE IN A NUTSHELL
Base Salary: $22.50 / hour
Reporting to the Manager Financial Planning & Analysis and working closely with the team the student will join the Corporate Analytics FP&A team in supporting monthly financial analysis and forecasting initiatives. This position provides excellent opportunities in learning and implementing financial concepts in a corporate environment and getting a broad understanding of the overall organization.
Responsibilities:
- Support the compilation of monthly management reporting deliverables including PowerPoint documents summarizing overall financial performance and key drivers of under/over-performance
- Use Tableau software to identify trends in benefit cost utilization and other key drivers of financial performance
- Assist with scenario modeling for corporate planning purposes and regulatory filings
- Assist with providing data for insurance industry surveys and analyzing the results for GSs Senior Leadership Team
- Support projects related to GSs finance transformation initiative
- Work collaboratively with the broader Corporate Analytics team and Finance / Accounting
- Ad hoc off-cycle financial analysis on specific areas of the business
WHO WERE LOOKING FOR
- Working towards a recognized Bachelors degree or Masters degree in business (finance specialization preferred) actuarial science math or technical field from an accredited college or University required
- Must be enrolled in the Co-op program at your post-secondary institution
- Superior analytical and problem solving skills
- Working knowledge of SQL/Python/R
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to query process manipulate and analyze large amounts of data
- Excellent planning organizing and time management skills with strong attention to detail
- Desire to learn and ability to think critically
NICE TO HAVE
- Understanding of group benefits and insurance industry
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau
- Bilingualism (English & French)
