Job Responsibilities:
The Financial Analyst will play a critical role in supporting the Assistant Controller by providing financial analysis budgeting forecasting and reporting. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to drive financial performance and support strategic decision-making.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management Reporting
- Assist in the compilation of weekly operational analysis and reporting.
- Collect monitor and analyze data related to the overall effectiveness of the department; benchmarking and analyzing these trends to establish action plans for continuous improvement (QOS process and weekly scorecard support).
- Work closely with cross department stakeholders to assemble necessary documents for the initiation of capital expenditure request submissions.
- Generate Ad-Hoc management reports and/or schedules as required
Financial Reporting and Tracking
- Perform detailed tracking of capital spending and assist in the maintenance and or implementation of new analytical reports surrounding companys spending against budget Assist in the overall month-end close process pertaining to the capital and tooling aspect of the business. This includes and is not limited to:
- Preparation of month end journal entries
- Proposal of month end accrual entry
- Performing the detailed account reconciliations pertaining to capital and tooling
- Organizing and distributing tooling information to relevant internal stakeholders
- Support the year-end closing process which entails the preparation of the assigned financial sections relating to the year-end external audit file. Support the Assistant Controller in facilitation of efficient and timely year-end audit and perform ad-hoc working capital and balance sheet related analysis on an as needed basis.
Other Responsibilities
- Promote company culture and ensure discipline to all company policies and procedures.
- Responsible and accountable to lead manage support and provide direction to staff within the department through effective goals/objectives setting performance monitoring and reviews communication and the execution of on-the-job training and development plans.
- Facilitate effective two-way communication through department meetings (minimum monthly) and an Open Door philosophy.
- Facilitate and promote a work environment based on fairness and concern for people in accordance with the principles of the Magna Employee Charter. Seek out and correct unsafe acts or conditions to ensure all health and safety policies are followed.
- Conduct planned workplace inspections as scheduled by the Environmental Health and Safety Department. Ensure compliance and enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements QMS (IATF16949) Health and Safety (ISO 45001) EMS (ISO14001) and security (PIP) requirements.
- Ensure with the cooperation of other Co-Ex-Tec departments and Corporate that the division achieves and maintains the highest possible Customer rating for satisfaction; strive for zero defects in all areas of the business.
- Any other reasonable duty required by Management
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in the field of accounting and/or finance required
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (relevant co-op experience can be included)
- Detailed oriented individual with a desire to hone his/her analytical skills and an affinity to work with high volume of data
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks and meet demanding timelines
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP fully integrated systems and Microsoft Office especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proficiency in English written and verbal communications
- Knowledge of the automotive manufacturing environment considered an asset
- Intention to pursue an accounting designation (CPA) considered an asset
- Overtime and travel may be required to support achievement of objectives.
