Ronald McDonald House Torontoencompasses a House for 81 families in downtown Toronto and eight Family Roomsin hospitals across the Greater Toronto Area and in Sudbury. The families weserve come from throughout Ontario across Canada and around the world.

We arelooking for a Family Room Coordinator to join our growing team at the FamilyRooms at SickKids (The Hospital for Sick Children).

About theOpportunity

Reportingto the Manager Family Rooms the Family Room Coordinator is responsible foroverseeing the day-to-day operations of the Ronald McDonald House TorontoFamily Rooms located at SickKids. This position plays a key role in deliveringcompassionate support and services to families of seriously ill children andinfants receiving hospital care. The Family Room Coordinator maintains a closerapport with all hospital staff especially those who interact daily with theFamily Room volunteers and families who use the Family Rooms.

KeyAccountabilities:

Welcome and orient families to the family roomsensuring completion of check in and accurate tracking of all subsequent visitsto the Rooms.

Foster a welcoming and supportive environment byproviding compassionate care available services guidance and assistance tofamilies.

EnsureFamily Rooms operate according to the policies and procedures outlined in theRonald McDonald Family Room Operating Manual.

MonitorFamily Room owned equipment ensuring routine maintenance is conducted andrepairs completed as required.

Monitororder and restock necessary supplies (e.g. food toiletries) adhering toestablished budgets.

Incollaboration with Operations Lead onboard train for all volunteers for theFamily Rooms.

Participatein the Family Room volunteer workforce providing coaching engagement andtimely feedback.

Proactively gauge the health of the volunteer workforcebased on key performance indicators for engagement and performance. Escalateissues as appropriate.

Incoordination with People & Culture ensure staff and volunteers adhere tothe Health and Safety measures AODA organizational policies & proceduresand other compliance matters.

Ensurethe Family Rooms have appropriate volunteer/staff coverage. Escalate issue asappropriate.

Fosterstrong values-based relationships with hospital staff and other keystakeholders such as families and community partners.

Prepareaccurate and timely administrative reports and documents including shiftreports and incident reports.

Ensureconsistency in implementation of policies and procedures by evaluating andmonitoring Family Room operations.

Identifyoperational concerns and implement corrective measures. Escalate issues asappropriate to the Manager Family Rooms.

Participate in special projects programming andother duties as required.

Qualifications:Ronald McDonald House Toronto understands that for any role its possible thatno one person will possess all of the desired qualifications. The following isan outline of the qualifications we believe are important to bring to theposition and/or develop while in the role.

Education& Experience

Minimum one(2) year of experience in providing family support or related services.

Experiencein healthcare working with vulnerable populations or in a not-for-profitorganization is an asset. Customer service experience in a hospitalityshelter community center or respite setting will also be considered.

High schooldiploma; college diploma in Social Services Social Work or related field is anasset.

CPR / FirstAid Certification (can be provided for committed applicants).

Experiencein volunteer management.

RequirementsKnowledge Skills & Abilities

Strongcustomer service skills and experience working with families hospitalstakeholders and volunteers.

Ability towork flexible hours and shifts including evenings overnights weekends andpublic holidays to support 24-hour operation.

Demonstratedde-escalation and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage sensitive situations with excellent judgment compassion anddiscretion.

Compassionate communication skills (written and verbal).

Exemplary collaboration and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability todevelop and maintain relationships.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverablesin a time-sensitive environment and adapt to frequently changing priorities.

Detail-oriented and able to prioritize multi-task and meet deadlines.

Excellent troubleshooting & conflict resolution skills.

Working knowledge in technology including Microsoft Office and other databases.

Ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently and withminimal supervision.

Able to lift up to 50lbs.

Thesuccessful candidate will need to undergo a successful reference check asatisfactory Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check and an immunizationprocess as per hospital policy.
