ETL Architect – Oil & Gas Energy (Onsite – Calgary, AB)

This is a 100% onsite role in Calgary Alberta (5 days/week). The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in designing scalable ETL/ELT architectures within complex industrial environments including upstream midstream downstream or energy trading systems.

• Proven experience working in Oil & Gas Energy or Utilities industry
  
• Hands-on involvement with:
  
  • Production drilling reservoir or pipeline data
    
  • SCADA IoT or operational systems
    
  • Energy trading asset management or regulatory reporting
    

Candidates without domain experience will not be considered

• Design and implement enterprise ETL/ELT architecture for large-scale energy data platforms
  
• Integrate data from operational systems (SCADA sensors field systems) and enterprise systems (ERP finance trading)
  
• Build scalable pipelines for high-volume time-series and real-time data
  
• Define data models aligned with Oil & Gas business processes (upstream/downstream)
  
• Establish ETL standards governance and data quality frameworks
  
• Optimize performance for large datasets (production drilling telemetry data)
  
• Collaborate with business stakeholders engineers and data teams
  
• Lead architecture reviews and provide technical mentorship
  

• 10 years in ETL / Data Engineering
  
• 5 years in architecture or technical leadership roles
  
• Strong experience with ETL tools:
  
  • Informatica Talend SSIS AWS Glue Matillion or dbt
    
• Advanced SQL and data modeling (dimensional / 3NF)
  
• Experience with cloud platforms:
  
  • AWS Azure or GCP
    
• Hands-on experience with:
  
  • Snowflake Redshift Synapse or BigQuery
    
• Strong understanding of:
  
  • Data warehousing
    
  • Data governance and lineage
    
• Experience handling large-scale industrial / operational datasets
  

• Oil & Gas systems such as:
  
  • Production data (well drilling completions)
    
  • Pipeline and transportation systems
    
  • Asset and maintenance systems
    
• Familiarity with:
  
  • SCADA systems and time-series data
    
  • Industry data standards (e.g. PPDM preferred)
    
• Understanding of regulatory and reporting requirements in energy sector
  

• Experience with real-time streaming (Kafka Spark Streaming)
  
• Exposure to data platforms in energy trading environments
  
• Cloud certifications (AWS Azure Snowflake)
  
• Experience in large enterprise or consulting environments
